Restock Bell support

Let shoppers ask to be told, and tell them the moment it is back.

Restock Bell is in development and not yet on the Shopify App Store, so there is nothing to install yet. Questions about it are still welcome.

Get help

Email hello@sproutcart.co. A person reads every message. To get to an answer quickly, include your store's .myshopify.com address, what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.

Setting it up

  1. Install the app and open it from the Shopify admin.
  2. In the theme editor, add the "Notify me" block to the product template. You can change the button label there.
  3. Leave it. The form appears by itself whenever the selected variant is sold out, and hides when it is in stock.
  4. When stock comes back and the variant is sellable online, everyone waiting for it gets one email with a link to that variant.
  5. Open the dashboard to see requests waiting, emailed and bought, and the stock requests list for each one.

What it does not do yet

  • The restock email is in English only. It is a single email the shopper asked for, so it carries no unsubscribe link; its footer says it is the only one.
  • Every waiting shopper is emailed when the variant is restocked, however few units came back.
  • There is no rate limit or CAPTCHA on the form. Requests must carry Shopify's app proxy signature, and repeats are merged.
  • The email notification and daily digest settings are stored but do not send anything yet.
  • If the app stops between marking a request emailed and sending the email, that one email is not sent again.
  • It has not yet been run against a live Shopify store, and it is not on the App Store.

Uninstalling

Remove the app from Settings → Apps and sales channels in your Shopify admin. What is deleted, and when, is listed on the Restock Bell privacy policy.
